Hi John - according to this Google Books April 13, 1912 publication "The Autocar: A Journal Published in the Interests of the Mechanically Propelled Road Carriage" - Vol 28 (edited by H. Walter Staner)"

Page 673: there are photos of a Charron and a Beeston-Humber. The photo caption states "Both cars are the property of Lieut. T. G. Hetherington, 18th, Q.M.O. (Hussars), Tidworth, Andover".

I only mention it because you referenced that Fred Lowe was stationed in Andover in 1911.

Yes Mo they both stationed at Tidworth in 1911. I remember my father saying that my grandfather was an invalid after the First World War due to years as a POW in Germany. He was captured in 1914.
Grandfather was visited by an officer, probably mid to late 1920's who was normally domiciled in East Africa. I assume they were serving together, perhaps he was his batman, before 1914.

Thomas Gerard Hetherington born 1886 and became Wing Commander CBE RAF
Late 18th Hussars. CBE for services in inventing tanks.
