Helping Finding A Marriage

Postby kelly85 » Sat Feb 15, 2020 6:10 pm

Hi,

I am struggling finding the marriage of Arthur Hunter (b1850 Brampton) & Annie Hunsley (b1861 Barnsley) I think the marriage would of been around 1877/78 as their first born son was born 1878.
In 1881 the family are living at 31 Quilter St, London.
After the death of Annie, Arthur goes on to marry Annie’s Sister Kate in 1892.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I have a book in front of me that says until 1907 it was illegal to marry your deceased wife’s sister so perhaps that explains why you can’t find his first marriage - perhaps it didn’t happen?

Where was the first son born? I take it he died young as Alfred Arthur Hunter was born in 1880.

Oh that is interesting! Arthur & Annie went on to have 3 children all born in Bethnal Green
, London. Yes the first child died young

I used to work at Brampton Lodge farm and lived off Buckden Road, just down from where the Hunters were in 1871. The A1 and A14 Huntingdon bypass go through it now.

Maybe you need to purchase the first child Alfred Arthur's birth certificate!

Arthur b 1859 maybe a minor on marriage as would Annie
