Richard Thomas Davison

Richard Thomas Davison, born 25.6.1847 in Chelsea, baptised at St Lukes Church 6.7.1847 to Henry and Elizabeth Davison. The next time I can find him is in the 1918, 1919 and 1920 electoral roll for 39 Culvert Road, Battersea where his brother Henry and family had also lived. He might be boarding in Shepherd's Bush and working as a wood carver in the 1911 census but I can't be certain it is him.

He is the first of 8 children, the other seven all being baptised in Pimlico.

Can anyone find him please? :)

Quick question: any ideas why he's not with his parents in the 1851 census?

Richard Davison (wood carver) married again in Battersea in 1920. However, the marriage record image (on Ancestry) indicates his father was "Richard Davison" - also a wood carver. So perhaps the chap in the 1911 census isn't your man after all.

Hi Mo

I've no idea why he isn't in the 1851 census - I've looked everywhere including his grandparents, no luck. And, I had a feeling the chap in the 1911 census wasn't mine so now I can cross that off.

This is a bizarre family - I can only find two out of 8 beyond their baptisms. Not on census, not on burial or marriage registers, zilch.

Thanks :D

There is a Richard Thomas Davison residing at 7 Britannia Road, Fulham - according to the 1904 London Electoral Register.

I guess it’s possible to have the ‘on’ missed off his name - I guess only the original will prove that but I’d expect to find him in the Brompton cemetery registers where most others ended up. He isn’t there.

As for the electoral roll, it’s possible. The family sprawled around Chelsea, Pimlico, Fulham and Battersea so it might be him.

The 1861 census for Pimlico is missing - is there any alternative by any chance

I took a look at the burial register (awful writing) and then checked the civil death registration index and they match which, I think, means it’s not my chap. I can accept a mistake but not two on two different documents. The hunt goes on...
