help with pope family of stockport cheshire

Postby mactuan12 » Mon Jan 13, 2020 4:57 am

I am looking for any information about the Pope/Chandler family of Stockport Cheshire. Especially about Emma Pope who married William Edward Chandler in 1901. They seem to have separated after WWI and William and his daughter Lillian moved to London and were running a Public House there. Both died in Kent. Emma died in Lancashire in 1964. My Nana was Emmas niece.

Would love to know what happened to the family after Emmas brother Walter died in 1915 as our family has no contact with them after that.

You know Walter died at Gallipoli in 1915. Looks like his wife remarried.

Son of Alexander and Elizabeth Pope; husband of Gertrude Ollerenshaw (formerly Pope), of Keepers Cottage, Birtles, Chelford, Cheshire.

She went back to Macclesfield by the look of it, married Thomas AA Ollerenshaw in Macclesfield, 1920.

On the 1911 census there is also a child Edward Chandler b 1902 Manchester (Chorlton)

Are you related to this person?

Ironically this WEChandler had an Ironmongers business on Moss Lane near Altrincham Football ground....I knew the successors to this business!
