GEORGE ALBERT HOLMES

Does anybody have this man in their family tree?
Born in Whitehaven, Cumberland in 1892 to George Holmes and Jane nee Massey.
He appears in both the 1901 and 1911 census at number 9 Michael Street, Whitehaven listed under his second name Albert
In 1913 he married Sarah Ann Telford in Houghton le Spring, County Durham
Sarah and George had seven children.
Shortly after their last child was born in 1928 George did a flit and if family stories are correct he took the entire contents of the house with him.
We have no trace of George after the youngest child was born, he just vanished but where did he go to?
My suspicion is that he took up with or made a bigamous marriage with another woman and may have a second family

Have you found George Albert in the 1939 Register? By the way, there was also an eighth Holmes child:

Birth: 1913 - TELFORD, Nora H (mmn: Telford)
Death: 1917 - HOLMES, Nora H

Young Nora is referenced in George's WW1 Pension record on Ancestry (see below). FMP has his service record, which includes details regarding his discharge in 1915.

Hi!
I've not found him on the 1939 register but I do seem to be a child adrift.
This guy could be anywhere in the country .
I do have a copy of his army record.
Not surprisingly he was disowned by his family as he left his wife and children pennyless.
Sarah had to go before a board to beg for money to feed the children, this must have been a really harrowing experience as she was unable to tell them where her husband had gone

Do you have his date of birth (to aid with 1939 Register searches)? Also, what was his occupation up to his c1928 disappearance?
