On the1939 register her name is Kathleen but Catherine written above it.


Having just looked at the Birth Certificate of Frederick Wallace (Catherine’s Son) that I have, I noticed that where it says ‘Mothers Name’ it says Catherine NOT Kathleen.

I know, but with it being altered on the 1939 register, I'd spend 7 quid and get a PDF download certificate to prove or disprove.

If she went by Kate then either name could be used.

I have already tried getting a certificate but once I filled the form in and press search it comes up with 'nothing found'.

Yes, its the only site to buy certificates as far as I know.

You can buy them via Ancestry, but I always use the GRO. Never had a problem with them. Had hundreds...

Hopefully it is them, then there are addresses on voters registers in the 1920s to put more meat on the bones...

“We have been unable to process your application, please refer to the paragraph below.

There is no trace of the above mentioned person at the reference you quoted.”
