Re the marriage of Edward Davis & Jane Single. According to Ancestry, Banns were read on the 10th Sep 1815, but the marriage was on 3rd Oct 1815.

Baptisms to Edward and Jane Davis at Walcot
Edward, 25 Oct 1818
Sarah, 26 Aug 1821
Father a Labourer
Abode Dover Terrace.

Any more after that?
Speculation
A burial at Walcot, 4 Sep 1822
Edward Davis, age 33
Abode here is 5 Chubb's Court.

Possible
Baptism at Walcot, 17 March 1789
Edward, son of Edward and Sarah Davies.

May or may not be relevant - Jane Davis, a widow, married James Baker, a widower, 28 June 1825, Walcot. Her parish St Michael, Bath.

Are we certain that Edward Davis who married Jane Lester in 1838, and Edward Davis who married Matilda Gough in 1843 are the same person?
Don't look very alike from the marriage details.

I can see this one has been aired before elsewhere, at least regarding the Edward Davis who married Matilda Gough.
The Glastonbury marriage of Edward Davis, Labourer, and Jane Lester has his father Edward as a Labourer.

We must be cautious of course about how they describe themselves (and their fathers) on marriage certificates. But on the Bristol marriage of Edward Davis and Matilda Gough, which was by licence, Edward is a Miller (and also on the two baptisms in West Harptree and Bristol of his son Alfred Thomas )
Meanwhile, Edward's father Edward is - well it's an old one this! - a lawyer or a sawyer. Ben likes sawyer. Usually it is sawyer! But on this marriage the first letter is like the L in Licence and not like the S in Samuel (Gough, Matilda's father). Then again the capital S in St John at the top is not the same.
(The Edward Davis signatures are not obviously alike, but not impossibly different)
Matilda seems to have remarried in 1848.
