Regarding the question by Yvonne Hensman on Hyman Philip Torlowsky (page 41), the National Archives reference for his father's (Israel Philip Torlowsky) British Nationality doesn't actually work in TNA's Discovery catalogue, the document is HO 144/329/B10755: 1891: Nationality and Naturalisation: Torlowsky, Israel Philip, from Russia. Resident in Nottingham. Certificate A6760 issued 14 July 1891, the date is wrong, it was sworn on 21 July 1891 and registered by the Home Office on 24 July 1891. The naturalisation certificate on ancestry is document HO 334/18/6760: 1891: Naturalisation Certificate: Israel Philip Torlowsky. From Russia. Resident in Nottingham. Certificate A6760 issued [24] 14 July 1891, wrong date again.
If you didn't know David Torlowsky served in the Royal Navy, see document ADM 188/407/230353: re his service in the Royal Navy, born 31 March 1887, it is available to download from TNA at a cost of £3.50 or free at TNA.
