Mary Largeto married John Peneycad at St Luke’s, Finsbury, London on 07 Nov 1784, she was spinster. The name is very unique, she is the only Largeto in the UK on Ancestry, FMP and Family Search. Can anyone see any other record/mentions of this lady? Does anyone know the origin of the name Largeto? It looks like the name has been transcribed correctly, any other thoughts as to what else it might say?

The only other information I have about her is that she died of Paralysis in Islington, London on 16 Feb 1840 age 82 years and was buried at St Mary, Islington a week later. I’d love to find out where she came from.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

The first letter of Mary's surname could be 'S' - unfortunately, it doesn't seem to help the search!

The a r in Mary doesn't look like the a r in Largeto in either the name on the top right or the name by her mark, which also looks like it's got 2 t's..

There is a Languett family, William and Mary, baptising a Sarah at St Botolph, Aldgate in april 1734.

The name on the left column definitely ends in geto but that could be copied from the Banns register..

I'd go with Langett/ Languett/ Langhuett

It is clearly an 'L', the previous page confirms that over the writing of the word 'Licence'. The National Archives website doesn't have anyone with the name of Largeto. You could check the banns and see what her name is stated to be.

That might be difficult. Marriage was in 1784 and the first surviving banns register for St Luke begins in May 1787. See also LMA catalogue.

I notice the marriage bann says they are both of this parish (St. Luke's Finsbury).
FamilySearch has some early baptisms for there including a 1765-1766 Index to Baptisms.
I found there a (Langstoro?) baptized February 1766. I couldn't find a match in their online records.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cat=273736
However, there is a Phebe Langston christened 2 Feb 1766 (born 28 Jan) to George & Alice.

I did a search for Largeto (including variants) which brought up a few "Langetos" from Italy/Greece.
Also, the following: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/langeto

It's an entry from a marriage register. The marriage was by banns, it is not a banns register.

There are a lot of Larget's in France.

What is the possibility of Huguenot links?

There are a lot of Larget/Largett's in Norfolk and London.

It is very possible there is a Huguenot link, in fact other branches of my tree are French, so I will definitely explore this avenue. Thank you all for your contributions.
