My 3x great-grandfather William Denniss married Fanny Squire in 1820. While none of their children were given the middle name ‘Squire’, grandchildren on several branches were. One was named just ‘Squire Denniss’!

The middle name even crossed the Atlantic, and I’ve found distant cousins still using the middle name Squire. It’s proven to be a good way of determining if someone is part of ‘my’ lot.
