Re the article on the homepage, the situation for the children was very bad, they had in some cases been told their parents were dead when they weren't and 'respectable' organisations like Barnardo's sent them to terrible places often run by religious organisations (including the Fairbridge Homes) which were anything but caring. Prime Minister Gordon Brown apologised for the scheme, but only after the Australian PM did so and a Parliamentary inquiry.
