Dixie Family East London

Postby mikedixie80 » Wed Jul 31, 2019 9:32 pm

Hi all,
For a number of years I have been trying to break through a brick wall at around 1802. I have details of Thomas (Thos) Dixie who married an Ann Coe but basically I cannot get any further back. I do not know who Thomas’s father or Mother is. Does anyone know who I can speak to, get in touch with?

Many thanks in advance

Mike

Bit of a long shot, but could he be the Thomas Dicks, born 1800 in Spa Fields, Clerkenwell? Parents: Robert and Sarah Dicks. It appears to be a non-Conformist baptism (Denomination: Countess of Huntingdon's Connexion).

According to the 1851 and 1861 census reports, the birthplaces listed for your Thomas are St. Lukes, and Islington. Spa Fields is located in Islington and also borders Clerkenwell.

His son's marriage certificate indicates his name is Thomas Cox Dixie. Could he have been baptised as Cox, and Dixie was a step-father's name? There are a couple of Thomas Cox's baptised in 1799 and 1804 in Islington St Luke.
