I can post the 1942 article, but it's quite disturbing. It relates to a Walter John Lodge of Kelveden, so it could be your grandfather.

In the 1911 census, there is a Walter John Tribe (age 4) living in Barking with "parents" William John and Lily Emma Tribe. Walter John's birthplace is Romford. Lily is age 26 and her birthplace is Dunmow. According to the census, the couple have been married "3 years" but I don't see a marriage record for them. Could be worth further investigation.

Walter John Tribe, 4, born Romford, in 1911
Mother Lily Emma from Dunmow
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XWFY-CYS

Lily Annie Tribe and Elsie Maud Tribe registered in Romford district in 1909 and1911. Mother's maiden surname Lodge.

But the only Walter John registered in the appropriate quarter in Romford seems to be
March 1907 Romford 4a 551
Brown, Walter John
mother's maiden surname — (blank on new GRO index)

If you don't mind posting the 1942 article,
My mother is so excited, the information I have already given from you guys she is convinced that your on the right likes, and 1942 would have been when he was in Kelvedon area.
He did have a gun, as he was actually killed in a tragic accident whilst out poaching, he was almost caught so went to hide and the gun got caught and went off into a main artery.

Another option perhaps - see if a baptism for Walter can be found in the Essex parish registers on SEAX.

Tania,
Are you looking only for details of Walter John (WJ), or are you trying to push your research back before WJ?

The WJ Tribe, living in Romford in 1911, is aged 4, but his parents state they have only been married 3 years, so are not hiding the fact he is not born in this marriage, so in all likelihood, they are simply treating his as a son of the couple, so may be stepson of Head. (NB there is no ditto mark to indicate his surname is Tribe, which could be deliberate or a mistake)

From what I've discovered, and from your comments about Lilla Emma Lodge being his mother, with same surname this also points to him being illegitimate son of Lilla Emma.

Lilla's parents were Charles George and Sarah Ann (Neville). who married in 1873 Dunmow (1873 Q2 Dunmow 5a 557).

Lilla Emma was christened in Dunmow on 1 April 1886, to parents Charles Lodge and Sarah Ann

1891, family is living in Pharisees Green Gt Dunmow, parents +6 children
1901, Father + 9 children are in Hornchurch (mother not present, but Charles shown as Married)

PS I posted something similar yesterday, but it seems the post got lost somehow
