Missing burials

Postby gen2 » Thu Mar 21, 2019 5:06 pm

My ancestor Thomas Bouchier was baptised on the 14 June 1730 at Hope Mansell, Herefordshire. He had five children by his first wife Catherine Baker whom he married at Mortlake Surrey on the 24 Jan 1762.
He then appears in Lambeth Surrey when he married his second wife Isabel Escolme at St Mary parish church on the 7 Feb 1776.
Catherine would therefore have died between 1764 when her last child was born and 1776, but I cannot find any burial for her.
Thomas was the licenced victualler of the Rose & Crown Upper Norwood in Lambeth from 1784 until his death in 1790. In his Will he left the Leasehold of the public house to his wife Isabel who died 1818/19.
My difficulty is that I cannot find any burial for neither Thomas nor Isabel. I have searched Ancestry, Findmypast, Familysearch and the burials of St Mary Lambeth to no avail. Thomas, Isabel and Catherine must be buried somewhere. Has anyone some advice as to where to search?

Ancestry has the Burial and Will records below for Isabel.
Also, I'm a bit confused as the 1776 marriage record for Thomas and Isabella indicates that Thomas was a "batchelor" (not widower)...??

Name: Isabella Bourchier
Age: 73
Birth Year: abt 1746
Burial Date: 25 Jan 1819
Burial Place: Croydon, St John, Surrey, England
Parish as it Appears: Croydon
Reference Number: 2888/1/53

England & Wales, Prerogative Court of Canterbury Wills, 1384-1858

Probate Date: 3 Feb 1819
Residence: Lambeth, Surrey, England

Because Thomas is listed as "batchelor" on his 1776 marriage, I'm wondering if the record below might have anything to do with first wife Catherine:

Hi

Thanks for the infor most enlightening. I missed this as I assumed ( never assume) that as they lived in Lambert and married in Lambeth they would be buried in Lambeth.

I live in Croydon! Oh dear!

The Rose & Crown pub is literally on the border of Lambeth and Croydon, their daughter Sarah married James Overton at St John Croydon and lived 1/4 mile from the border end the pub.

Thanks for the other info I will follow it up.

Thanks once again great help
