bastardy records

I have an ancestor born 1854 in March Cambridgeshire with no sign of a father being around. Where there at this relatively late date any bastardy investigations carried out by the parish? if so where am I likely to find them. tia bern.

Under the New Poor Law, the parish wouldn't be interested. It may be worth trying the records of the appropriate Poor Law Union (North Witchford).

There might be reports of an affiliation case in the local newspapers. It may be worth searching the newspaper records on FindMyPast. You might be lucky - I have found a few reports, one from 1882.
