Can you read the rank or profession of the father?

Postby pforkes » Sun Dec 30, 2018 11:49 pm

If you can read almost anything on this marriage certificate, then I would appreciate it.

I believe that it is between John Henry Rutter and Rose Anne Stone.

Thanks.

Painter, as confirmed by the 1871 census, where he is residing in Bethnal Green.

John was a painter. John’s father was Emmanuel Rutter, a sexton. Rose’s father was Thomas Stone, also a sexton.
John was from Devizes, Wiltshire. Rose was from Urchpont (spelt Erchpont on the certificate).

I think you’ll find she was from Urchfont rather than Urchpont! Urchfont is south of Devizes. I do agree both fathers were Sextons.

Alas, then, this is the wrong person :-(

Rosannah Stone (born on 7th December 1847) in Bushley Worcestershire) to Thomas Stone and Ann Salcomb is still eluding me.

Possibility
Marriage
March 1880 Upton 6c 379
Starling, Henry
Stone, Rosanna

In Bushley in the census. It looks like Rosanna was a second wife for Henry.

Death
Dec 1934 Upton 6c 156
Starling, Rosanna
age 86

FamilySearch reports a death notice for her in the Gloucestershire Echo, 11 Oct 1934

Here it is (attached)

Also is a funeral report in the 16th October edition. The scan I have is not great.
Bushley Funeral
Many Mourners at Burial
Of Mrs R. Starling

And the edition of the 18th October has a blurb...
On Sale To-morrow at Noon
"Chronicle and Graphic"
promising obituaries of many, including Mrs R Starling (Bushley)
Mind you, it may be no more than what's in the Echo death notice!
