Dating woman in photograph

Postby Will Mundy » Sat Dec 29, 2018 10:52 pm

I was wondering if anyone could help me say roughly when this photograph of my great great grandmother was taken. She was born in January 1851 and was a governess before she married.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I would date this style of dress to around the 1860's. If you type into Google, 'pictures of Victorian dress styles' you may find several like this.

Hi, I have a photo of a relative, of about the same age, wearing a very similar style of dress. Its dated 1884. However she lived in deepest Suffolk so it might have been a bit behind the times.Regards Jeff Ward.

Tricky for me to tell, but could this be a wedding photograph, given that there appears to be a train??
