death of Harriet Butler

Postby katebenn » Sun Dec 16, 2018 3:52 pm

I'm looking for a death of Harriet Butler b 9 Aug 1866. Her husband Charles died in 1940 aged 72 in Nuneaton. Her 'maiden' name was Payne from a marriage in 1907 to James Payne in Coventry RD as Harriet Hough; James died 1919 then Harriet married Charles Butler in 1930. Family think Harriet may have been married before the marriage to James & was a Pullen.
Any info on this would be greatfully received.

Hi,
This could well be her. Thank you.
She gives place of birth as Higham, Leics. BoD comes from 1939 register; so her bap 9 Sep 1866 fits.
The family 'notes' don't fit, but this confirms her maiden name as Hough.
Can you find a marriage to James Payne in 1907 in Coventry?

There are a number of reasons why this is not on line:
1) Registry Office marriage
2) Non conformist marriage, some are starting to appear on line
3)The Parish the marriage took place at has not been digitalised

What about this death
March 1955 Atherstone 9c 21
Butler, Harriet
age 88

The lady was a widow, she left a will - one of the executors was James Payne, retired company director. The other one was a Frank Pullen!

Frank Cecil Pullen born 1888 was a baker, could be a candidate.
Might have been a relative perhaps.
Birth
Sep 1888 Hinckley 7a 70
Pullen, Frank Cecil
mother's maiden surname Hough

Baptized 20 August 1888, Higham on the Hill.

- mother Harriet Hough baptised 9 Sep 1866 at Higham on Hill.
This all seems likely - will need to do some further research.
Thank you for now.

I think that Frank Pullen will probably turn out to be Harriet's nephew.
Good luck
