I'm searching for the death of Frederick Payne b 1884 in Nuneaton. His wife Edith died in 1942 & Fred was a benificiary in her will. They lived in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

Hi,
Thanks for this BUT its not my Fred Payne. I've seen this one BUT checking the 1939 register confirms he is not ours.
Thanks anyway - still a mystery!

His wife Edith died in 1942 & Fred was a benificiary in her will.

According to the National Probate Calendar there was no will. She died intestate. Administration was granted to Frederick Payne and Edith Winifred Savage.

Now, did Frederick marry again after Edith died?
Marriage
Dec 1943 Basford 7b 509
Mellors, Ann M. - spouse Payne
Payne, Frederick - spouse Mellors

I ask because an Ann M Mellors, later Payne, born 9 Aug 1888, was living in Bourne Avenue, Kirkby-in-Ashfield U.D., in 1939.
Her husband appears to be Timothy, born 1889

Death
March 1942 Nottingham 7b 459
Mellors, Timothy
age 52

Probate for him too

Hi this is Frederick - thank you!!
Doris, Joan & Joyce are his daughters. The family seemed to have 'lost him' after 1950s. Fred & his brother James were partners in business & 'saved' Nuneaton football club in the 1920s.
Lots of further research for me here now - thank you very much.
