WDYTYA Forum App

Postby Narnster » Wed Nov 14, 2018 2:00 pm

I've seen mention of this subject before but can't find it now... What has happened to the Android app? I've just got a new phone but the app doesn't appear to be in the Play store. Hope somebody knows! :???:

Indeed - I must be coming close to a new phone myself and I can't find it. What appears to be the app for the magazine itself is there but not the forum. And it's been missing for a year or more I think...

Is there anybody there??? :-)

Hi guys,

I'm sorry you're having this problem. We're aware of this problem and we're rolling out an upgrade to the app in the next few months which will make it available on the Play Store.

Thanks,

Rosemary

Yes, I've just been updated. Well, my phone has.

One tip - I didn't find the app in Google Play by searching on WDYTYA but it's there if you search on WDYTYA Forum.

Rosemary - re the new app - I'm seeing "NEW POSTS (1K)" on the new app - compared to zero new posts on the internet browser site. Seems a bit odd to have different answers to the same question? (And 1K new posts is a fairly pointless piece of data anyway, because I always look at the unread list.)

Hi Adrian, thanks for letting me know - I presume this is because the desktop website 'recognises' that you've viewed most of the posts and the app version doesn't.

Ah, it's not the Unread Count that's odd, it's the New Count.

The Unread Count is fine - that must be taken from your server because it's got to count down whether I look at a post on my phone or on my laptop - only the server can see both.

No, it's the New Count that's showing 1k - I don't even know what this actually means because it's not a count of new posts (read or unread) since I last logged on, because that would be small. And it wouldn't be so bad if the app didn't default to showing the New (but actually very old) List. It's an irritation though, not a serious problem.

Hi Adrian, I'm sorry to hear you're having problems, I will pass the feedback on to the app developers.
