Griffiths family.

Postby KayFarndon » Wed Oct 24, 2018 5:54 pm

On the 1901 census I have Edwin Griffiths aged 62, born St Nicholas, Glamorganshire, birth year 1839, engineering clerk. His wife Margaret [Mcinnis] aged 56 born Ireland birth year 1845.

On the 1911 census the only page I could find begins with their son Harry G. Griffiths aged 10 born Ireland 1880 and I think Tarbert Island, Kerry and Limerick, so I suspect there must be a previous page.

If anyone has this family or knows anything and can help, then I would be very pleased to hear from them.

Kay,
I don’t quite understand why you can’t look at the previous page yourself. If you are Ancestry, for example, look at the image and then click the arrows to left and right of the screen to scroll appropriately.
Or am I missing something. :D
EDIT Sometimes there are more than one image per house, one for each family group.

birth of Harry George Griffith, Tarbert Island, 24th January 1880 - father Edwin's occupation is coastguard

extracted civil birth records on FamilySearch also show :

William Samuel Griffiths, 23th December 1865, Kingstown (now Dún Laoghaire), Co. Dublin

William Charles Griffiths, 3rd December 1867, Dublin, Ireland

Edwin James Griffith, 26th September 1869, Kingstown, Co. Dublin

The locations on these extracted records can be town/townland, county or registration district. Full certs for these births should be on IrishGenealogy.

there's a promising match for Edwin & Margaret's marriage on the BMD Index as Edwin Griffiths and Margaret M'Innis - Rathdown registration District, 1864, Volume 2, Page 925. The register images for the earlier marriages are not available online on IrishGenealogy website yet, but you could order a research cert (€4) to see the details - e.g. place of marriage, occupations, father's names, residences for the couple, witnesses etc...

I found no sign of the marriage in Catholic records, so most likely Church of Ireland.

Rathdown district covered parts of south east County Dublin and North east Co. Wicklow - including the area around Kingstown.

This is for Shane please.

You found and highlighted the birth of Harry George Griffiths for me, born 1880. You also listed other births and I wondered whether they had the same father, as the birth years of two years between does make it possible, or did you just list them in the hope that I might find them interesting and perhaps helpful please?
