What happened to James Daniel Garwood, born 1856, Hawkeden.

James Daniel Garwood was born on 9th October 1856 in Hawkden, Suffolk.
He was baptized on 9th November 1856 at St. Mary’s Church, Hawkeden.
The parents were James Garwood and and Harriet Garwood (née Rampling).
He is on the 1861 census, shown as living with his parents but he is not on the 1871 census.
Can you help me to find when he died?

I'm assuming that the 'Daniel' listed as James and Harriet's son in 1861 is James Daniel? I can't find a death for him under James or Daniel. Have you ruled out the possibility that he was living with a relative, or had gone even further afield? For example, there's a James Garwood aged 14 serving as a 'boy' on board the ship Alfred & Jane of Lowestoft in 1871, and a James Garwood aged 15 in 1871, an apprentice sailor on the ship Express, also of Lowestoft. Maybe your James was similarly adventurous?
