India help

Postby Steamangie » Sat Sep 08, 2018 8:41 am

Hello all,

So I’ve recently and unexpectedly discovered and marriage in India in 1842 for my 2x Great Granddad, while he was in the army over there. Does any one know where I would start looking for any children that might of been born as a result of this marriage?

Findmypast is the only website which has images for India baptisms, marriages and Burials, originals from the India Office Records at the British Library.

The India records on Ancestry are index records only, and are mirror records of the index India records on FamilySearch, based on the India Office Records at the British Library.

As he was in the Army, you could check out the GRO Army index records, and some Roman Catholic records, explained in the FIBIS Fibiwiki page Chaplains Returns
