Historical Costume/Menswear

Postby Lyndsay » Thu Aug 16, 2018 8:52 am

Hello,

We have found a photo of a very grand looking gentleman amongst our family archives. We have not been able to identify who he is.
Can anybody place the decade or his occupation from this photo?

Many thanks
Lyndsay

Is there anything written on the back of the photo or the area under the mount? Any little clues may help.

Hello, thank you for responding. But no, nothing under the mount or on the back.

I may be heading up a complete gum tree here but can't quite get at the memory. There is something about the costume that reminds me of northern Europe more than the British Isles. Perhaps Belgium, the Netherlands or northern Germany. Is there anything in your research that might possibly suggest that?

Hello,

Nothing to really suggest any family connection going back three decades which links us to Northern Europe. We are wondering if he might be a religious figure? Probably not none of our relatives, but a community figure.

Kind regards
Lyndsay
