Thomas William Bone impasse

Postby midshipman » Mon Aug 13, 2018 9:23 am

Thomas William Bone was born 16th October 1886 in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. His father was Thomas Henry Marshall and mother Marion Bone. They had a bigamous marriage and when Thomas William Bone was born his parents appear to have split up. Thomas William later in life gave fictitious details regarding his father. (Thomas Henry Marshall has been the subject of a previous enquiry).
Thomas William married Sarah Elizabeth Hough Poundall in Mexborough, Yorkshire, in June 1910. The 1911 census provides correct information.
I suspect Thomas William Bone might have served in the Royal Field Artillery during the First World War.
My problem is that I cannot go any further and have reached an impasse. There was a Thomas William Bone who appears on an Ancestry hint arriving 2nd December 1921 by sea to Boston, USA from Mexico. Another hint with a Canadian marriage for Sarah Elizabeth Bone in Ontario in 1923.
Sadly I cannot tie up these hints to them and wondered if any kind members could help with my impasse?

Sarah Elizabeth Bone's marriage in 1923 - she was a widow, 42, born in Michigan, USA, maiden name looks like Kerry or Henry. She married in Brant Co., Ontario, resident of Hagarsville. She married John Wesley Kallar, widower. Both were Methodists.
I checked the 1921 Can census but found no Thomas William Bone or just Thomas born England of the right age.

I found Sarah on the 1911 Can census, with first husband Alfred, b. 1863, England. They were living in Woodstock, Ontario.
Alfred's death record gives his parents as William Henry Bone and Maria Hames or Harms. No specific place of birth other than England.

No, afraid not. Alfred's death stated he came here ca 1869, so he would have been about 5. The only one on BMD is an Alfred b in Croydon Sep Q 1864.

Alfred reg in 1864 - mother's maiden name was Ames. His sister was the informant on his death...
Perhaps a southern England Ames would sound like Hames!?

Looks like a false lead Diana.

Think I will try "Family Search" for possible USA connection rather than Canada Diana.
