I got it through the site http://www.ukbmd.org.uk
If you want to do the same, when you have the site on screen, select a county - Staffordshire - then when the next page comes up, choose West Midlands BMD. Then choose marriages. Put in Joseph Hampson, 1930, and click 'results.' Next to Joseph & Lily's names, you'll see a reference number (34/7/136), followed by 'view page.' Click on 'view page' to see the info I gave in my last post. If you want a copy of the marriage cert, click on the reference number (34/7/136) and you'll be shown an application form, already partly filled in for you. Print it off, complete it, and send it with a SAE & £10 cheque to the address given for the Superintendent Registrar. You should get the certificate very promptly.

Baptism of a Joseph Hampson with that date of birth is transcribed on FreeReg.

George Hampson b1863 married Charlotte Peake b1865 on 21/10/1883 in St Paul's, Wednesbury. His father Arthur, hers Daniel. Between the marriage and about 1906, they had several children (probably 10), but in 1907, Charlotte died aged 42 (DQ 1907 Walsall 6b 432) and in 1911, George, a widower, is in Cannock with 4 of his children.
Also in 1911, in Walsall, in the household of John and Mary Ann Moore, is Joseph Hampson aged 3, listed as 'adopted child.' Joseph's birth entry on the GRO site shows he was born in the same quarter as the death of Charlotte, and his mother's maiden name was Peake.
So it looks as if George had to leave Joseph with John and Mary Ann Moore. I don't yet know what relationship they had to George, if any.
