Looking for the Berry family in 1939

Postby phsvm » Sun Jul 22, 2018 2:25 pm

Can anyone trace Horace L Berry, born 1892 and his wife Alice Mary Louise, born 1887 on the 1939 Register?

Their daughter Barbara was born in 1917 and married in 1946. Her married name was RICH. She married in Bournemouth so I don't know if the family were in Hampshire by 1939 or even whether she was still living with them.

Horace and Alice were married in Norfolk in 1917 but were from Berkshire. They were living in Berkshire in 1920.

In other words they seem to have moved around alot so I can't even pinpoint which part of the country they might have been in.

Having now searched for Barbara Rich I've found Barbara and her mother, along with another female family member who I haven't yet identified fitting into the family, in Swindon but there's no sign of Horace. They had been transrcibed as Barry.

Can any one help with Horace?

From Ancestry this is the reference
Schedule Number: 292
Sub Schedule Number: 2
Enumeration District: WRKI
Registration district: 240 - 2

the writing on the record is poor and has been transcribed incorrectly. When you magnify the record you can see it is Horace. It also appears that both women were members of a womens association.

Thanks Sally. It just shows what a fresh pair of eyes can achieve! I'd looked at that, as you know, on FMP and they had it transcribed as Hanna L. I'd not then followed it through to see it was a MALE.

Grrrrr.
