Yes - it was the baptisms that interested me.

When Frederick married Mary Ann Southey, the marriage certificate described him as a widower. Was his first wife Ann Rivers? A couple with those names married at St Clement Danes in 1833, and an Elizabeth Weedon born 1841 in Bethnal Green, has mother's maiden surname Rivers.

Mary Ann jnr's baptism/birth c1855 are elusive, so although when living with Frederick and Mary Ann she was described as his daughter, is it possible she was a granddaughter or even gt.granddaughter, with a parent from his first marriage? In view of the complications around Mary Ann in later life, maybe it's not too fanciful?

This looks like an interesting line of research.

I have not been able to find a death for Ann WEEDEN (née RIVERS), but I have found Frederick and Mary Ann in 1851 [HO107 1483 197 23] in Peter Street, Westminster:

Frederick R WEEDON (41) - bootmaker, b Marylebone
Mary Ann WEEDON (21) - b Kent
Frederick WEEDON (8) - b Bethnal Green
Walter WEEDON (1) - b St James, Westminster

The Frederick WEEDON (8) in 1851 looks like the same Frederick WEEDON b in 1842 found by Elsabels, going some way to confirming that Ann Rivers was the first wife. But I am still no nearer to finding the birth of Mary Ann WEEDEN. Not sure where to look next.

On another point, I received the death certificate today for Mary Ann BURCHETT (née WEEDEN). The informant was F A JARY of Scotland Green, Tottenham, the same informant on John Albert MARDELL'S death certificate. So this really confirms the details about Mary Ann's death, as well as confirming that she must have kept in touch with her childt=ren after the split with John MARDELL.
