Problem with GRO Index

Postby SDV » Sat Jun 23, 2018 2:26 pm

I would like to order a PDF of an entry I found on FreeBMD, namely: Harriett KEEN b Q4 1841 Farringdon 6 165, but it will not come up as a result when I search the GRO index. The problem seems to be the GRO's requirement for a Surname, so I can't search just using the other information. I have and thus identify the transcription error. I don't want the certificate, just the PDF which I can only order through the index!

entry shows up fine for me, with the certificate and pdf buttons -
KEEN, HARRIETT mother's surname HORN
GRO Reference: 1841 D Quarter in FARINGDON Volume 06 Page 165

using Harriett KEEN , exact matches on both surname and forename, 1841 exact, any quarter, female, no county or district selected

Yes. I reloaded the GRO site and it worked for me. I have no idea why it failed to show up before.

Sorry for any inconvenience. In hindsight, I should have realised to reload the site before posting.

One has to be so careful with what ones enters. Enter Harriet instead of Harriett, or Anne instead of Ann for example, and GRO will not find it. Trouble is, once one has made a simple error like this, one can look and look and not spot it. It oftens takes a fresh pair of eyes to spot and correct the error. Moral is, the less you put in, the less chance of making an error.
Been there, done that :D

I tried with no first name, just the correctly spelt surname. I also tied all the various options offered such as similar, phonetic, etc. I really don't think it was my input of entries, but something to do with the site which was cleared when I reloaded.
