Mawhinney/Mc Whinney of Liverpool and Belfast

Postby Mariner Aus » Thu Jun 07, 2018 5:24 am

Hi everyone

I'm trying to find out more information on my 3 x great grandmother Ann /Mary Ann Mawhinney/McWhinney.

She was born. approx 1839 to Belfast (according to the 1861 census living at Edward St) and profession was Cap Maker.
She married my 3x great grandfather John Smith in Liverpool on the 11th July 1858 at St David's church. Her father was John McWhinney (Cabinet maker) and Caroline ...
Ann/Mary Ann would have died after 1871 as her husband John is listed married with their kids Thomas and Caroline Hannah Smith living at 11 Trowbridge St in the 1871 census. There is an M.A. Smith listed on the funeral receipt of John Smith when he was buried at Toxteth Parish cemetery on the 10th Feb 1874.

Can someone help me finding more info on Ann and her ancestry?

Thanks again!

regards

Hello
There is a possible sister Caroline who married John Griffiths 11.10.1869 at St Pauls Liverpool father John Mcwhinney joiner.
In 1861 the family are at Durrow St? Everton
Caroline widow 40 Dublin
John 24 painter Liverpool
William 21 plumber Dublin Ireland
Caroline 14 cap maker Liverpool

1871 5 Rokeby St Everton
Caroline Griffiths wid 23 cap maker Liverpool
mother Caroline Mayhanny? widow 60 housekeeper Belfast.

It looks as though this may be John's death
john Mcwhinney age 41 Liverpool June 1847 vol 20 483

Possible baptism for brother John 23.7.1836 at Leigh St Mary of Atherton machine joiner.

in 1881 brother William age 37 plumber born Belfast seems to be with sister Elizabeth Walker widow age 45 laundress born Belfast at 20 Mill Road Everton.
The previous census Elizabeth Walker now 40 born Ireland had brother John McWhinney age 38 born Ireland with her and husband George Walker at Mansfield St.
Elizabeth had married at St Nicholas as Mahoney 13 July 1855 father John a joiner.

Annoyingly I can't find any baptisms for the children except John.
