Elizabeth's brother Alfred Richard Hacon 1842-1871 has a pink granite monument raised by public subscription for his work as a surgeon in Higham Ferrers churchyard, Northamptonshire.

They are certainly an interesting lot!
Norfolk is a wonderful place to have ancestors from. I even looked up Walter Edward thinking his father must be from Norfolk, but no!

Thanks elsabels. I hadn't spotted that she was a witness at the wedding.

Further digging into the possible connections between Elizabeth and Walter Hacon in New Zealand. I believe they were cousins of a sort. Her uncle Hylton Dennis Hacon 1783-1844 born in Norfolk and died in Hackney, London, was also a surgeon and was Walter's grandfather.

Death cert can be ordered here. https://www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.go ... rchResults

$25 for PDF of full entry emailed to you.

If known it should have names of both parents and length of time “in the colony”

Many thanks ianbee.
Currently sitting in hospital waiting for eye operation. Even with 2 good eyes I will struggle with that handwriting.

There are three witnesses and then the coroner’s finding. It says that she had languished and suffered from nervous prostration for a long time and suffered a visitation of god and died in a natural way of nervous prostration and exhaustion.

Hope the op goes well.
