Finding Matthew Wybrow Easy's birth certificate (~1845)

Postby pforkes » Mon May 28, 2018 5:57 pm

Matthew Wybrow Easy was (allegedly) born in 1845 in Littleport, Cambridgeshire.

His parents wereJohn Easy and Susan Wybrow.

He was christened on 31 August 1845 in Littleport, but I cannot find his birth record.

Can someone see what I cannot?

When were parents married? If they got timing wrong, he could be registered under mothers maiden name, worth a try (I’ll look myself when I’m back on my PC) :)

Whybrow Easey (born on 17th February 1842) was a different person, whose death was recorded in Q1 1842. I have attached his birth record.

The person I am looking for is Matthew Whybrow Easy, who was baptized on 31st August 1845 and whose baptism record says that he was born in 1845.

His parents were married were married on 26th April 1829 in Littleport and he has at least 6 siblings: Henry, William, Whybrow, Eliza Ann (who died in 1844), William, and Eliza Ann (who was born in 1852).

His birth may not have been registered, some escaped the registrar.

BT (image) of the 31 August 1845 baptism in Littleport here
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cat=976859

No dates of birth are given on the BT. So from that source we can't be sure when he was born. But Eliza Ann was registered June 1844, so it seems probable that Matthew was born not too long before that baptism.

In the GRO birth index, for the most likely quarter, Sep 1845, the page numbers for Litteport sub-district in Ely (vol. 14) seem to run from 63 to 68
He is not in there.
Looking at the other Littleport baptisms on the same page as Matthew, and the two preceding ones, dated 22 July - 20 Sep, there are likely birth registrations for most of them (the bulk - not all - of them being in the Sep qtr 1845, and those ones generally indexed around pages 65-67 in vol. 14)
Abode on all those baptisms - bar one - Littleport.
Couple I couldn't find - Harriet Moden, Charles William Clarke

Thank you for finding Rachel Wybrow Easy. In the 1851 census, she is living with her uncle and aunt in Feltwell, Norfolk. In Q1 1859 her death is registered in Ely, aged just 22.

I just that Mathew Wybrow Easy's birth was not recorded.

The baptism records on line are BT's ( Bishop Transcripts) you need to look at the original Parish Registers to see if the officiating minister wrote any further information

Using genuki will help you
