1939 Register - Enumeration Districts

Postby RobPurser » Wed May 16, 2018 11:52 am

Can anyone tell me in the 1939 Register what enumeration district Borough Road, Southwark is in? Specifically I am looking for Murphy Buildings, Borough Road.

Thanks.

You can search by address on Findmypast (free). This will give you enough information to locate it on Ancestry.

Remember that Borough Rd is not a short road.

I couldn't find a listing for Murphy Buildings on either.
There is a Murphy's House on Borough Rd, which I found by googling, but that didn't show up in the searches either.
As Peter says Borough is a long Road and you may have to do a search entry by entry.

Thanks for the advice.

I went to our public library sometime ago as they have full free access to the Register and found the couple concerned (George Edward Purser and Alice Annie Purser nee Andrews) living at 1 Murphy Buildings, Borough Road, Southwark. Unfortunately I only made a note of their details but not the enumeration district.

I subscribe to Ancestry which now has the Register however when I search for them there is no result found. I guess it is a transcription error.

I looked to go through the records of each enumeration district for the Southwark district but didn't realise how many there were!

I think I might end up going back to the library to print out the details and then try again on Ancestry.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Turns out Ancestry thinks its Pusser not Purser. So much for "broad" searches on peoples' names.

Thanks again.
