Handwriting on Parish Records

Postby katinthehat » Thu Apr 12, 2018 6:18 pm

Goodness, it's all this a big learning curve - my next hurdle - trying to read Parish Records, it's like a foreign language.

Can anyone tell me what this says - I've got John Rooney to Jane Stirling the rest I'm really struggling with (I think one witness is Annie Murphy?):

Any help really appreciated.

I agree with Murphy
Catherine’s surname might be WITNEY ?

The bit after the dash is space filler (I think). And then it’s the signature of the priest or parish clerk. J. D. Eels. Not sure what the word that looks like “settled” is. Have you other entries on the page to compare individual letters with?
