Kenneth B COX in the 1939 Register (in Barking, Essex) has a date of birth of 2 Mar 1925

In which case there is a birth registered in Halstead, Apr-Jun 1925 vol 4a p1435 (Mother's maiden name - Newman) ?

Thank you so much. I was lead astray by his son with misremembered details of his date and place of birth. I will feed it into my tree tomorrow.

So I followed the hints and found a Benjamin Cox whose mother was Hart. I found a Mary Ann Hart married to a Thomas Cox on 4 Aug 1890 Tower Hamlets, Bethnal Green. I am not sure I am heading in the right direction. Help please.

You need to get a copy of his birth certificate, which will give you his mother's and (probably) father's names, (and addresses & his occupation) - compare those to the info on the marriage and you will know if you have the right couple or not.

Other evidence ( census, baptisms, wills, etc.) will also help to confirm you have the correct family.

Don't make assumptions based on index entries - an awful lot of trees go wrong that way.
