Establishing Link

Postby lin1506 » Sun Feb 25, 2018 8:36 pm

Hi, New to this, so apologies if I do this wrong.
I am trying to establish the Family Tree for 'Hale' Family from Wiltshire.
My grandfather Frederick James Hale was born in 31/03/1907 (Urchfont) - died 09/1985 and was married to Gwendoline Ruby Gale (nee Mansell) - they resided in Melksham. He was the son of Edwin Hale 1875 - 1941, and Edwin was the son of Roland / Rowland Hale. And this is where I am having great problems. Roland / Rowland Hale married Sophia Daw - should be easy to make a connection with the surname Daw, but I have found 3 families with the same names, but differing dates - between 1828 - 1836. What advice can you give as I have looked and looked and looked and cannot figure my next step.
Many thanks
Linda

Is it the Daws you are looking for?
Rowland Hale married Sophia Daw, 16 October 1852, Enford
Her father given as Timothy Daw, Labourer
Witnessed by Pamela Daw

In the census Sophia Hale says she was born Enford, and there is a baptism there 16 September 1832
Sophia
Daughter of Timothy + Eliza Daw
father a Labourer
abode Compton in the Parish of Enford

Also a baptism at Enford of a Pamela Louisa Daw, 19 April 1835, same parents

Many thanks for replying and indeed of supplying the information. I know where I went wrong, I combined 2 families with the same 'name' for a father. The information you provided meant I was able to correct this.
It is the HALE family I am trying to work on. If I am right in what I have done I have managed to get further back. And it is producing some interesting initial information. I hope to further look into any war records etc, as I know one family member was a POW, a few were given medals, and I believe one was lost at sea in the war.
Again I thank you for helping me.
