Face recognition for old photos information

Postby Simon45 » Sun Feb 18, 2018 8:25 pm

I have a few photos from 1890 - 1910 with I believe the same people in some of them

Is there anywhere or anyway of sorting them out to conform. the same person in each photo?

Thanks
Simon

If the photos are clear enough and you can see them compare ears. No, don't laugh. Ears don't change even though facial features, body shapes do. Everybody's ears are as distinct as finger prints.

That is true (about ears!) but I have noticed that my own pictures on my iPad are somehow grouped according to some facial-recognition software within the photo storage system.

Perhaps it’s Google .... they are surveying us all the time, might as well get a tecchie person show us how to make use of this facility.

You could start by taking digital photos of your photographs, see what comes up?

Apple "photos" on all their devices has a facial recognition built in that learns as you select more photos of the same person. You can turn the option on and off. It will then let you pick a person and see all the photos it thinks is the same person

It is by no means fool proof and is dependent on resolution etc. It might work, but I don't think it would be definitive.

You’ve obviously not noticed your ears changing over time, especially the lobes :D

However, the positioning of eyes, ears, nose, forehead etc in relation to one another, are fixed throughout life, and this is what most facial recognition software generally looks at and cannot easily be disguised or altered. These are also points that are easy to identify in a photo, so easier to use.

Your postings are coming from an iPhone Simon45. You should have face recognition loaded into Apple photos on your device. It comes as part of apple photos. Check out the Photo library settings.
