DNA in genealogy

Postby kullboys » Thu Feb 08, 2018 7:07 am

Hello everyone
It compared the different dna companies. I have used many. Ancestry, living dna and famytree. I have found unknown ancestors via ancestry. 3 or four at the moment. Living only tells your haplogroups in more detail via ydna and mtdna and autosomal, no matches. I have not found anyone properly on familytree yet.
Thanks

Just like you I have taken DNA tests with the companies Ancestry, Living DNA and family tree. The earliest one being in 2015. I also have many matches with Ancestry, with a second cousin one time removed on there. We already knew we were related through another site. But it did confirm it worked. The others are a mixture with it being confirmed by our shared ancestor all the way back to a five times great grandfather. Had no luck in matching or tracing with family tree so far. It seems time and patience are needed once you do these tests.
