Charles Alfred Nunn

Postby Jomack » Fri Nov 17, 2017 6:05 pm

Hi My 2x GG Charles Alred Nunn was born in Burgate Suffolk on 20 July 1842 to Harriet Nunn. He was baptised in Wortham Suffolk on 27 November 1842. No father was shown, his mother was an Ag Lab.

I can find no trace of them in the 1851 or 1861 census records.

He married Henrietta Bradley in St Cuthbert's church York on 27 May 1867. They had 8 children (William, John Henry, Jane Amelia, Eliza Ann, Alfred, Harriet, George Thomas and Henrietta) and moved several times living in York, Churwell, Darlington and Thirsk in Yorkshire.
They then moved to Co. Durham living in Ryhope, Murton and Usworth where Charles was killed in a rockfall in Usworth colliery on 28 May 1889.

Any help on where he lived between his baptism and marriage would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Jomack

Hi
There is this marriage possibility at nearby Diss
13 November 1842
Jonathan Ellis + Harriet Nunn
(Dec qtr 1842, Depwade vol 13 page 102)

Then in 1851 (piece 1822 folio 414 page 11)
in Guiltcross Union Workhouse
Charles Ellis 8, born Suffolk Wortham

also there (folio 413 page 9)
Jonathan Ellis 36 Norfolk Shelfanger
Harriot Ellis 29 Suffolk Burgate
and Rebecca Ellis 4 Norfolk Shelfanger

In 1861, back in Wortham (piece 1149 folio 130 page 21)
Thomas Hubbard Head 35
Rebecca Hubbard Wife 35
Charles Ellis Nephew 18
all born Wortham

Possible marriage
Dec 1848 Hartismere vol 13 page 1111
Hubbard, Thomas
Nunn, Rebecca

After 1861 is there any further sign of Charles Ellis born Wortham?

Hi Is this reply meant for another post as I did not mention any of these phrases in mine on Charles Alfred Nunn.

I don't think it was intended as a reply to you. I could be mistaken but their user profile signature (weblink at bottom of their post) suggests spam to me. The site in question is flagged on scamadviser sites for malware and is advertising dubious services.
