Are James Frederick Canday and James Frederick Candy the sam

Postby stefano » Tue Nov 14, 2017 7:01 am

The bmd has a James Frederick Canday birth but nothing else. And James Frederick Candy has a marriage and death but no birth. I have obtained the birth certificate and the former was born in the workhouse. I just wonder if they are the same person?

Whilst we await the answers to our questions, a bit of entertainment from the Berkshire Chronicle, 29 April 1865

Wokingham
Town Bench
One affray, however, occurred between two young men named James White and Walter Golds, and on the police endeavouring to quell the disturbance, they were assaulted by not only White and Golds, but also by young woman named Catherine Candy, a friend of one of them; and she, with a thick stick, belaboured two of the police over the head most heartily. Assistance being at hand, they were all three locked up until Monday morning, when the two men were fined 1l. each or three weeks' imprisonment, and the female 2l. or one month's imprisonment. The two men in the course of the day paid their fines, but the female went to gaol, her co-patriots not having sufficient sympathy amongst them to pay her fine.

I'm going to be very disappointed if stefano reports that the mum was Mary!
