Thanks again for the replies.
Our ancestors did not make it easy for us to uncover the details of their lives. I wonder if they are turning in their graves at what is being revealed or, more likely, they are actually laughing at our attempts.

The baptism record that we see on page 1 of this thread shows that both Charles James and May Marian Timms were baptised on Jan 1st 1871, but their birth dates are given in the left-hand column - quite correctly it seems - there is no attempt to disguise their birthdates. Only by checking the actual certificates can you uncover the real parentage. Well done!
