sdup26 - no worries about the content of the newspaper mentions. In fact, I will now check FMP for any additional newspaper tidbits. Leanda was my great-uncle's wife. Apparently, Leanda wasn't allowed into her mother-in-law's home in Sittingbourne, due to the family rumours regarding her origins. As a young girl, my Mum knew Leanda and found her to be 'delightful company'. Now if I could only find Leanda in the 1911 census. :?

Any chance she could be Levender Frost, 2, born Eastbourne
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XW63-HWY

Living in Sittingbourne, Kent. Parents William, 25, and Mary Ann, 24
Mother born Hundreds of Hoo
Best to check original of this.
In 1901 there is a 16 year old Mary A King, in Hoo St Werbergh, Kent.

Hi Ian - thanks so much for those finds! It explains how Leanda ended up in Sittingbourne, and also how my family knew of her origins. I'll add all this info to my family tree now. Interestingly, Linda's 1933 marriage record gives her surname as "King" (not Frost) and states that her father is unknown. Perhaps she wanted to distance herself from her family by then?

Thanks again to everyone for their helpful and kind assistance today! :)
