John Richards and Hannah Webb

Postby pforkes » Mon Sep 18, 2017 3:37 am

John Richards and Hannah Webb are my great, great, great grandparents.
John Richards was born in Ampney St Mary, Gloucestershire about 1801.
Hannah Webb was born about 1805 in Yate, Gloucestershire.

They had (to my knowledge) four children (though I suspect that they had more):

* Hannah Richards: born 03 Aug 1824 in Coseley, Staffordshire
* Mary Richards: born about 1832 in Shipton Moyne, Gloucestershire
* Thomas Richard: born about feb 1839 in Yate, Gloucestershire
* James Richards: born about 1840 in Charfield, Gloucestershire

Because there is a fifteen year gap between the first and third children I suspect that there were others.

Hannah Richards (the eldest daughter that I know of) was married on 17th May, 1879, in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, and her father’s profession was given as “cokeman”.

Anyway, I am looking for the following information:
* When was John Richards born and/or baptized?
* When was Hannah Web born and/or baptized?
* When and where were John Richards and Hannah Webb married?
* When and where did John Richards die?
* When and where did Hannah Richards née Webb die?

Hannah Richards may be the daughter of John & Hannah (Seedhouse) Richards, born 3 Aug 1824 and baptised 30 Jan 1825 at Darkhouse Baptist Chapel in Coseley, Staffordshire.

She likely had a brother, Isaac, born 25 Oct 1826 and baptised 10 Dec 1826 at the same place. Hannah Seedhouse and Hannah M'Cloud were present at the birth.

John Richards and Hannah Seedhouse were married 21 Jun 1814 in Sedgley All Saints Church, Staffordshire.

John & Hannah's family appear to be living at Springs Mire, Dudley, Worcestershire & Staffordshire, England in 1841. John is a "Coak Burner" born 1796. Hannah was born the same year.

There was a Hannah Richards of Bloomfield who was buried in Coseley, Staffordshire on 16 Apr 1848 aged 50, courtesy of https://www.freereg.org.uk. Her death was registered 1848 June Quarter in Dudley Union Volume 18  Page 279, according to the GRO.

Not sure if there is any connection but a John Richards married Elizabeth Webb in West Bromwich, Staffordshire in the third quarter of 1844, according to Findmypast.

They appear to be living at the Hop and Barley Inn, Coseley, Sedgley, Dudley, Staffordshire, England in the 1861 Census with Ruth Webb.
