Badge from Baghdad

Postby philippereynolds » Mon Aug 28, 2017 8:58 am

I'm posting this for a friend. He found a badge/pin that belonged to his g grandfather. It seems to commemorate his time in Baghdad during the final year of the First World War, as a lance corporal with the 2nd battalion of the Royal West Kent.

I thought it looked hand made and I just wanted to see what anyone else thought. Thanks.

Found Frank Lucia 1897-1955 on medal card index. He is listed as Private 204291 Royal West Kent Regiment.
It is indeed a hand made souvenir badge made out of an Ottoman coin.

And the nice thing is - there won't be many of those around!
