Mary and Charlotte CONN

Postby SDV » Sat Aug 26, 2017 11:22 am

Mary and Charlotte CONN were the daughters of James CONN and his wife Elizabeth EDE. They were born in 1804 and 1806 respectively. Mary was baptised on 05 Feb 1804 at Hornchurch and Charlotte on 25 May 1806 at Hornchurch.

They probably died in infancy, though that is only a guess. I have looked at burial records on SEAX for Hornchurch and can find no suitable records, though the images are hard to decipher so I could have missed them. Neither can I find any marriage records for them in Hornchurch, though if they survived infancy, they may have moved out of the immediate area in search of employment.

I would be grateful for any evidence with regard to their fates after their baptisms.

Name: Charlotte Conn
Gender: Female
Christening Date: May 1806
Christening Place: Hornchurch, Essex
Father's Name: James Conn
Death Date: Sep 1809
England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975

Well, the 1809 BT doesn't say daughter of James, but I guess it is likely to be her.
Buried 28 September 1809
(and transcribed as Charlotta Lonn on "Essex Parish Registers")
Image of BT is here

Note the burial of James Conn on 11 June 1809.
Marriage of William Howard and Elizabeth Conn, at Hornchurch, 5th February 1810. The parish register says she was a widow.

Yes - I had already found the burial of James CONN.

However, I think the marriage is wrong. As far as I know Elizabeth CONN (née EDE) went on to marry my 4x GGF William STEWARD(T) on 05 Feb 1810 at Hornchurch.

EDIT: my mistake, obviously a poor transcription!

Many thanks for your detective work.

I have now found her in 1861 in Hornchurch. I also now have a possible death in 1868, again in Hornchurch. So very successful.
