I agree with JMcKinnon. My Yorkshire ancestors were born, married, died and farmed in between - just ordinary law-abiding, hard working folk. Never put a foot wrong. Now take my Norfolk ancestors - a different kettle of fish altogether. A toy boy, extra-marital affairs, divorces, illegitimate children, desertion - much more interesting and fun to research. Oh, and then there's the one involved in a scandal that was reported in newspapers all over the UK!!

brunes08 -- You've just described my ancestors to a tee! Especially the 'toy boy' bit. That would be my grandfather. :D

As for the 11 Henthorne Road address which Ian found, you could try opening the 1939 Register record anyway. I finally located a missing relative in 1939 with the same "household is closed" message, and the record opened just fine. No issues whatsoever.

Thank you for that Ian. I hadn't realised one could get to the whole street using that address search. I thought it was just for finding the exact name of a street to enter in the name search.

Did you know that to have a record opened you not only have to supply the death certificate but also their correct date of birth. dd/mm/yyyy, as well as knowing where they were living at the time. So - a Catch 22 situation all round.

incidentally at her death she is given as 80, so a birthdate of 1879. So there is a bit of a range to search. 1879 - 1881.

Jo - try opening the 1939 Register record anyway, even though it says it's "closed". As I mentioned earlier, one of those "closed" records opened up for me. It may have been a hospital record with patients' names, if memory serves correct. I avoided opening it for days, until I just bit the bullet.

As Ian says, there's a 1931 Electoral Register entry for Marguerite Smart, Henthorne Road, New Ferry, Wirral, Cheshire. Living at the same address are Albert Vivian Smart and Gladys Irene Smart. I've had no luck with the 1939 register.

In 1927 Albert (Fountain) is at that address as well which is very satisfactory.
just wish I could find them in 1911. Still, other than that, they are tidied up I think.

Thank you all very much.

In the 1939 Register, 52 Napier Road, Bebington, Albert V Smart (b 11/11/1902) and Gladys I Smart (b 1/11/1905) live with two people whose records are closed - presumably their children. But no Marguerite.

I wondered if the transcriber might have misread her birth year? Although having now seen the page, the writing looks clear enough.
Marguerite is in Kelly's 1938 Liverpool Directory, listed at 11 Henthorne rd New Ferry. Ditto 1955.
Those Liverpool directories are very good for householders of all kinds, but I can't see an Albert Smart in the 1911 one.
