What happened to Hannah Marshall?

Postby pforkes » Sat Jun 03, 2017 5:21 pm

Hannah Marshall was born on 13th September 1852 on Bowling Green Lane, Stourbridge, Worcestershire. She was the fifth of ten children.

Her father was Thomas Henry Marshall born in 1827 in Dudley, Staffordshire and who died on 14th June 1879 in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire where he was the Gas Works Manager.

Her mother was Hannah Richards who was born on 3rd August 1824 in Coseley, Staffordshire and who died on 20th September 1876.

The 1861 census has Hanna as being a scholar and is living with there parents and siblings, but after that she disappears. Can someone else’s eye see what I am not?

I would have given you the same person as MayHam; the Hannah Marshall who married James Horrocks in Cheltenham in 1875, and then lived (and died) in his birthplace of Manchester, where censuses show she was born in Stourbridge c1853. It could be worth risking a tenner on their marriage certificate, if only to rule her out.

Once again, thank you.

Sometimes I feel like Winnie the Pooh when he is looking for his honey. In one story, he cannot find it and the author (A. A. Milne) writes ("...and the more the looked, the more is wasn't there."
