1939 Unoccupied Addresses

Postby AdrianB38 » Fri Jun 02, 2017 6:21 am

FMP have announced that today they have added empty addresses to the street / address records search on the 1939 Register.

Nope, I have no idea what that means either, but it does suggest that searching by address wasn't giving the expected answer if the house was empty due to evacuation etc. Experimental searching may be beneficial if you have previously failed to find an address.

I've just checked my grandmother's address again to find it supposedly unoccupied! but I know she was there as my mother got married from that address at Christmas 1939 and my grandmother was on the electoral roll at that address in 1939. Seems that area of queens park just off the harrow road was not properly enumerated, all the roads in that area are a mess all mixed up. I guess they called and nobody was in o listed it as empty.
