Hi MoVidger

No, I hadn't seen this one, I wonder why??? Well, thank you for finding him - the age is wrong by 2 years if the 1939 census is to be believed and I've never seen a hint of a middle name, not even in his will. But I appreciate another possibility, now how to prove/disprove it? ;)

On FMP, there is an 1890 record for a John Lee (b 1867) in the British Army Service Records set. Location is Lambeth, London. Sorry, I'm unable to check this record as I'm very low on FMP credits.

I've had a quick look at this record and this John Lee served in India between 1895 and 1902, so is probably not the right John Lee.

Hi, my grandad, whose WW1 service record I have served in the Royal Engineers Horse Transport, so perhaps this is something to consider. Coincidentally my grandad also lived in London.
