Human error can creep in at any stage. I have found the parents' details of a 1806 baptism in a parish register held by Flint RO differ from the details in the Bishop's Transcripts held at Cheshire RO. It's likely the vicar/curate was distracted while writing up the BT. It does pay to check as many sources as possible.
